Singer/songwriter Darren Flowers is a regular guy with an honest message and a soulful and inspired voice. The oldest of three boys, Darren grew up in the suburbs of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. As a child, the house was often filled with the sounds of the Temptations, Jackson 5 or Marvin Gaye. Flowers grew up singing and playing a variety of musical genres with his brothers on a regular basis. During high school, music was a secondary endeavor while sports took center stage. Flowers received accolades for his athletic achievements and headed to the Air Force Academy on a football scholarship in the summer of 2000. Darren soon found that the military life wasn’t the path he wanted to take and found himself wondering to and from several universities for the next three years trying to find who he was and where he was ultimately headed. After a year at Oklahoma State University, Darren started getting some attention at open mic nights and local college shows which lead to his first independent record and full tour schedule. The word of his music quickly spread due to his demanding tour schedule, where he would play coffeehouses, lounges, bars, college campuses and even city sidewalks for the next 5 years. Flowers decided after 2007, that he wanted to pursue his other passion…sports. After coaching track and field at Moore High School for two years, he went to West Texas A&M University to coach track and cross country and earn his Master’s degree in Business Administration. After a two year break, Darren Flowers is now playing and recording once again. His new album, “Falling Hard”, produced by Kendal Osborne, is due to be released August 4th, 2009 and is an honest portrayal of self recognition and how rewarding love can be, no matter how hard it may seem at times. He has been compared to artists like Damien Rice, Amos Lee, Counting Crows, Ryan Adams and Ray Lamontagne.
