David Powter, a Montreal-born singer-songwriter, releasing his first solo album entitled YOU, has dedicated most of his life to music and composes songs that elevate listeners to higher levels of refreshment. His music is anointed and people have remarked that God’s healing power emanates from his songs. Each of his songs carries a different feel that encourages the listener to desire deeper intimacy with God and to want more of His presence. David truly has a new sound. Though his influences have been The David Crowder Band, Rend Collective Experiment and The Glorious Unseen, his sound is unique, remarkable and sublime, ushering you into that secret place where you can hear God’s heart. God made himself real to David from a young age, but recently he has born witness to God’s incredible strength and faithfulness which have become not only recurring themes within his songs but also the driving force behind each inspired note and line. Always wanting to serve in worship, David Powter has been part of many different worship teams for close to twelve years. He has taken some music lessons but writes mostly by ear. David’s first instrument is the piano, but he has taught himself the guitar and drums as well. In 2005 David graduated from Montreal’s Trebas Institute of Sound Engineering.
