Growing up in a talented musical family, Derrick Blakeney a.k.a. D.Blake, was surrounded by music, instruments, and a wide array of talented family members. He discovered his own talent while singing in church at age 8.
With his first single, “My First Love” produced by the great Jimmy Brown, D.Blake has been blazing the stages of many venues in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. As the winner of This Is It Bet Blaze the Stage, he represented Charlotte, NC well on BET’s 106&PARK W.O.W. competition, bringing a great victory back to the Queen City. He will be returning to New York City later this summer to grace BET’s stage once again, where he is sure to steal the hearts’ of America’s music lovers during the All-Star competition.
