3 is a very powerful number. It is the trinity, a triangle a pyramid touching and standing firm as one. Each joining together in unity, harmony........ We are 3 sisters from Ireland; Fiona, Nayome and Evangeline. We are currently living in New Jersey and working in Manhattan. We have been on stage performing plays, concerts, irish dancing, ballet, speech and drama, acting, talent shows and singing, all our lives in our native home. We are also singer/songwriters and from a young age joined Taxi the online web space for songwriters. We decided to attend a workshop in Los Angeles in 2003 where we performed for over 2000 industry people. This experience encouraged us to go home to Ireland and produce a tradional irish album. We self-produced with the help of a local producer/ friend our album "Black is the Color" under our then stage name SIROCCO. This album has 12 irish songs, some traditional, also featuring "YOU RAISE ME UP" but with a difference. Beautiful 3 part harmonies with contemporary beats that brings the listener to an enya-like plateau. We describe it as 3 VOICES... 1 UNIQUE SOUND. www.myspace.com/celticsirocco or www.sirocco.tvWe secured distribution in Ireland for the album but were dropped a week before it's release perhaps due the upstaging of other up-and-coming artists. It did not deter us. With the help of our parents we traveled all over Ireland and put our album into the Record shops. We called every radio station in Ireland and mangaged to get interviews with the radio stations and media attention on RTE (Irelands tv broadcasting network) and an 8 page spread in VIP magazine (Irelands' top Who's Who mag).We were in the local and national newspapers so in March 2004 we headed off to New York and managed to get ourselves on some Irish Radio stations in New York and was featured on an Irish program broadcasting throughout the US to 6 million viewers "OUT OF IRELAND".Through this we were asked to come the following year to sing at breakfast at the Waldorf Astoria for Governor Pataki for St. Patricks Day. We sang at many Irish venues and managed to get asked back for the folowing year and the year after that. The irish scene was loads of fun and we had plenty of support....but we needed and wanted something more. We wanted to record our own songs..... So, even though we were academics in school, we decided to throw away the books, cross the ocean to further pursue our destiny to have a career in the entertainment business, even though many tried to desuade us. Before we left though we entered the first show of RTE's "YOU'RE A STAR" that soul purpose was to find an act to represent Ireland in the Eurovsion. The judges Phil Coulter, Kerry Katona and Brian Smith loved us but Nayome and Evangeline were underage for the competition, but we still managed to have a whole episode centered around us!We also were invited to sing at the POINT THEATRE as back up vocals for Simon Casey at the Childline Concert and appeared on RTE 1 and on some childrens programs on RTE 2.So, not knowing anyone in New York we have since made our way to working with a former member of the infamous FUGEES. We have worked with songwriters that have written for THE BLACK EYED PEAS, PINK and GOOD CHARLOTTE.We have learned alot about the music business since we arrived. There are many sharks and many good people too in the industry. So as we found our feet we adopted the stage name DEFY* and have built up a great fan-base under that name.www.myspace.com/defyallmusic So we are beginning 2008 with renewed hope and ambition for all good things to come our way. We hope we continue to meet many beautiful people that can help us make music and help us fulfill our dreams. Collectively we love music and hope to have a long and successful music career and win many grammy's as THE GIRLS DEFY*. Individually, Fiona would someday love to own her own label and recording studio but not before she makes is it as a Rock Star with several grammys under belt. Nayome loves music but has always had a secret love for her acting and be able to direct her many movie scripts as she continues to write. Evangeline loves hip hop/R&B and wants to have a successful solo career and someday own a chain of Health Centers across the United States. We really hope you stop by many times, enjoy our music and blogs and share your lives with us...... Like the lyrics from one of our songs "We won't stop....can't stop....cuz our hearts won't let us!"Luv YaThe Girls DEFY*Fiona, Nayome and Evangeline xxx
