Music is expression and more so a form of universal language to Derrick Green, a native of New Orleans who takes the craft very serious. Derrick Green is an artist, musician and composer with a unique style of blending pop, jazz and soul music lures your ears in for a closer listen. Giving total respect to studying the art-form, Derrick is professionally credentialed in Classical Vocal, Piano Performance, Musical Composition and Audio Production. Derrick’s music has a unique ability to provide its listener with a sensation of transcendence, which has allowed him the opportunity to collaborate with industry executives and alongside both veteran as well as rising artists. As a teenager growing up in New Orleans, Derrick Green began to lead and participate in musical workshops across the United States, Europe and Asia while also working as a studio session vocalist and musician.
After serving in the military, Derrick relocated to Washington D.C., where he now works as an artist, musician and band director. Derrick notes some of his influences as Quincy Jones, Edward Shearmur, Thelonius Monk, Ellis Marsalis and Incognito just to name a few. Reaching out to others through his music beyond is a constant goal of Derrick Green’s and is one of the reasons why he also lends his support to being a humanitarian and a member of the Rotary International which is an organization committed to excellence in selfless service and the welfare of others around the world. Derrick is currently working on an EP set for release in late 2012.
