Dez Nichelle born Desiree Nichelle Underwood is a singer/songwriter as well as a trained dancer and choreographer. Singing was always a passion for Dez, because of her fathers love for music and instruments she found music to be inescapable. She sung in church, school choirs, and several girl groups throughout her childhood. Constantly influenced by the world around her, Dez began to write poetry and songs while still in grade school. By high school she accumulated over nine marble notebooks full of hooks, punch lines and metaphorical phrases. She never imagined that something that was nothing more than an outlet would turn into something greater. Several songs stemmed from those early ideas, one in particular is "My Sunshine" which will be featured as her first single. Dancing was also a passion that started early and was the one talent she thought would give her recognition on the world stage. With a foundation in modern dance and ballet every other style of dance became quite easy to master. Growing up in the inner city she naturally gravitated toward hip hop dance and street dancing a skill that made her name ring bells throughout her community. Dancing opened many doors for Dez and gave her the opportunity to perform back up for local artists such as Demic and Bawsten as well as other artists at venues such as Hot Import Nights, Six Flags and various events across the tri-state area. With an innate ability to perform and grasp the attention of people across cultural barriers and age groups Dez is sure to be the next big name in Hip Hop and R&B. Her clever choice of words and her heartfelt lyrics makes her a dynamic songwriter, and her unique tone is enough to engage any audience.
