Singer/songwriter Dan Gonzalez has been described as a “literate, topical balladeer” (Scott Alarik, Boston Globe) and “a masterful solo performer” (reviews, cdbaby.com). Dan got his start playing Paul Simon covers at the campus coffeeshops of Dartmouth College. After a degree in engineering and a few years teaching high school physics, he took a turn toward Boston’s Berklee College of Music where he studied guitar and songwriting. In 2003, he was awarded the Scott Benson Scholarship for Songwriting, Berklee’s top songwriting scholarship, and was selected as the winner of the Berklee Songwriting Competition. In the years since graduating from Berklee, Dan has received national acclaim for his music. He has released two full-length albums and has performed at venues such as Club Passim (Cambridge, MA) and the Bitter End (New York, NY). His music has been featured on programs such as NPR’s All Songs Considered and Rob Reinhart’s Acoustic Café. Today, Dan lives in Charlotte, NC and performs with sideman acoustic guitarist Yohei Nakamura (featured on Dan’s most recent album, Public Square).
