About Don M. King (songwriter)
Songwriter who sings...yeah...there is a difference. Who am I? First and foremost I am a Christian, then I am an English teacher and a lover of language. I tend to focus more on a song's lyrics than the music, though I do have music in my blood, so to speak. My father was a Hungarian Gypsy violinist who had his own band and quite a huge following back in the 60's, 70's, and 80's. He learned to play from some of the masters when he was 4 years old and had numerous chances to reach "stardom," whatever that is, but instead he did the starving artist thing and took care of his 6 children the very best he could. I'm forever grateful!
Me? I taught myself how to play guitar when I was 14. I think my dad and mom had to go without paying the rent for a couple of months just to get me the guitar, but a few years of bloody fingers and strumming some basic John Denver songs, I finally figured it out. Been writing songs ever since. I've been fortunate enough to win a major songwriting competition during GMA week in Nashville, and I have worked with a publishing company during my stay there. I now reside in beautiful Northeast Ohio with my wife, and I write when I am inspired. I hope you enjoy some of my demos and are blessed in some way. The talent on this website is INCREDIBLE! I wish I had the time to write to so many more of you! Stay creative and inspired. Music is the healing balm, and this world's gonna need all the healing it can get in the coming years!
