Andre D. Martin, known to his peoples as Dre or DreBoi Da Truth, was a born singer. His vocals were honed in the church, singing solos and as part of the children's choir and even the mass choir. He grew up in the studio however and was nurtured in music by a loving family. He was inspired young by the likes of Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles and would make it a point to "borrow" his uncle's cds and listen to the sounds of the 90's such as Mista, Boys II Men, and Brian McKnight. He even wrote a song for his childhood crush Aaliyah.
He was a natural born entertainer as well. He would often watch Jamie Foxx on In Living Color and mimic his comedic style and his voice after he heard him sing on his stand up "Straight From the Foxxhole." Jamie became Dre's inspiration even further when in '96 Jamie came out with his debut album Peep This as well as his 2nd stand up "Unleashed." Dre mimicked his style and soon forged his own and by '98 he had become known as "the boy that can sing."
After a move from Lynwood, CA to Indianapolis, IN with is mother and younger brother he came to find more talented individuals for him to learn from. In the 6th grade he and best friend Keith Taylor formed the duo Sweet n' Smooth and although the group was short-lived they formed a lifetime bond. Dre continued to work on music through middle school and high school and every where he went he made a name for himself using his smooth, silky tenor voice. He sang in the school choirs and at several talent shows.
After being approached by many different producers after high school he decided to begin producing himself and learned from several people but joined in the ranks of several young men who were aspiring to reach the same goal. He moved back to Cali after graduating and met Jaron "JaSoule" Fort while in college and started From Tha Heart Productions. After meeting Jaron he also met Havicc who helped him groom into a recording artist as well as a performer.
He had a bitter sweet departure from Cali again finding himself in Indianapolis trying to make ends meet. He decided to get himself together and worked to get his own. 19 years old and hungry with desire he went and bought his own equipment and began recording with his godbrothers Spyro, Jay, 2Beazy, and AJ. 1 year later he finds himself in Dallas, TX ready to make waves and ready to get his debut album "Sumthin Special" out to the people.
