German heavy doom band DUST was founded in 1998 by Igor Popovic (drums), Christoph Kröger (guitar) and Kay Grossmann (guitar). The line-up was quickly complete by adding Olli Karic' (vocals) and Thomas Kröger on bass who was replaced by Thomas Pflug in 2004. Between 1999 and 2002 we released 3 very successful demo CD-R's and gained more and more attention in the scene. While "Olympus Trip" and "Smell the Burning" sounded a bit more stoner and positive we defined our unique sound on the self-titled 2002 demo. It features an uncompromisingly heavy and filthy fusion of sludge, doom and noise but with a surprisingly groovy and psychedelic undertone. Moving somewhere between Black Sabbath, Venom, Saint Vitus and Hawkwind we sometimes use the term psychaggressive doom to describe the sound. In late 2004 DUST recorded a raw EP entitled "Reblown" which is seen as the first 'regular' release by the band and was an appetizer for the long awaited first full length album "High Density Amplitude" (2006). Now working in a proper studio the tracks finally came across in a much better sound quality. This quickly led to a lot of good reviews and growing popularity in scene magazines and we played more live shows than ever. The extremely mellow performance and the outstanding frontman immediately blast the unprepared audience is said. On stage the songs reach full intensity and often beat the studio versions by far. In summer 2008 we went back to the studio to put down the second album "Receive the Frequency". All tracks were recorded in one take. This is probably DUST's strongest effort to date. Nothing left to say...
