Beginning in the middle of 2007, Josh Kirkland, Logan Evans and Kyle Billingsley would get together after school and jam. The sessions produced only one song, but the guys knew there was potential there. By the end of the year, the guys had backed off rehearsing, pursuing other interests on their own. As 2008 rolled in, the boys discussed the possibility of really taking the music seriously, and pursuing a future in music as a band. Places to rehearse were few and far between. After all, loud music is not always accepted in parents homes or backyards. Finally, drummer Logan Evans decided that they should practice at his house. Logan already had his drum set there, so it was the logical choice. The band practiced at Logan's on some days, but on some Friday nights, they were able to rehearse in an almost live situation at a Youth Camp that the boys attended. At this point the group consisted of Logan Evans on Drums, Josh Kirkland on Vocals, and Kyle Billingsley on Guitar. The guys were happy with their progression as a band, but knew full well that they needed a Bass Player. While rehearsing at Youth Group one night, Christian Yoakum, (the current bass man of the group) was watching the boys rehearse. Christian, (noticing the guy auditioning for the Bass Player spot just wasn't cutting it, ) asked for a chance to play with the guys. Christian plugged in, and in no time had the tune that the guys were playing down and also had a position in the band. This newly completed lineup of young musicians knew that they couldn't be a band without a name. The first suggestions, "Chaos To Clarity", and "A Burden To Calvary", were short-lived. They felt that the names weren't the right fit. In fact, they went through several names, none really 'doing it' for all members of the group. Then, after what seemed like forever debating on a band name, the band grew frustrated. Josh knew he wanted something to the "effect" of the story he wanted to tell. They finally used a reference book to figure out words to put together, and they did it. The name was Effect Of The Fallen. The meaning you may ask? Well Josh, (Lead Vocals,) puts it like this: "My best friend grew up with a Father and a Mother, but they were never married. He looked at himself as a "mistake." You could not convince him otherwise, thats what he thought. His mother had him at an early age and because of that, he thought he was nothing more then an accident. God has a purpose for everyone, and he knew the day that he was going to be born. There are no mistakes in God's eyes. He knows what happens when it happens. Effect Of The Fallen means there is no negative to something God has created. Effect Of The Fallen just simply states that everyone has a purpose, and there are no mistakes in God's eyes. The guys in the band loved the name and FINALLY a band was born. The four guys worked feverishly on the original track from the initial rehearsals, before Christian joined the band. Once they were all happy with what they had, it was time to lay it down in the studio. Being a brand new band with ZERO studio experience, the first day in the studio proved to be a long one. Bassist Christian Yoakum described it like this, "I felt naked. The process totally strips you down to nothing". The band learned an awful lot that day, and at the end of it, were proud to present their first ever single entitled The AntagonistIt featured the song Face With No Face In early July of 2008, the band was approached by Dan Lang, offering assistance with Promotion, Show Booking, anything they might need. Dan Lang is the President of Palm Coast, Florida based Breakthrough Promotions. Breakthrough had been working with several bands in Central Florida, helping with promotion, booking shows and even sponsoring shows as Lead Promoter. Dan, having worked with bands like Through You, Irrational, Ambertone, OverlorD, Stemm Cell and many others, seemed like a logical choice to help Effect Of The Fallen. The band's first move was to do an interview with Dan. After the interview, (which by the way was described by Dan as one of his most enjoyable ever,) was completed, Breakthrough sent it to long-time Orlando band support website, OrlandoBands.com. The editors at OrlandoBand loved piece so much, they put it on their front page. Dan has decided to stay on with the band as their Manager, and can be reached via the contact info on the left side of our page. The band's debut song Face With No Face continues to get great feedback from their friends and fans, and plays on their My Space page have tripled. The band is fielding more and more demands for some live shows, and the schedule is starting to build. In Mid-September, Christian Yoakum was faced with a troubling decision. The band said this: "Due to person issues, Christian Yoakum is no longer able to be in the band. He will always be remembered. He was and still is a great bass player. We love em' and hope that whatever is going on in his life, God will bring him through it. With God on your side how can anything go wrong. We love you and we miss you Christian." Effect Of The Fallen's story is just starting to be written. Before all is said and done, this band will make their mark on this Scene, and hopefully many others.
