I don't have a band. I borrow a guitar. I don't have any real cool, and expensive, software. I had never had the desire to write a song until a year and a half ago. Now I don't seem to be able to stop. I quit playing instruments and singing when I was 19 years old. I am now 58 years old. When I quit using music, it almost broke my mothers heart. Her name was Elsie. Two years ago, after having lost every earthly possession I had worked a lifetime for, I only had one goal left; suicide. I was quite pleased with my decision. I was making one last visit to my sisters in Houston when they convinced me to go to their church. (They had no idea of my plan). God entered my heart. I didn't want him to. I didn't ask for him to. I had spent the last 30 years of my life in the casino business and I certainly didn't feel a great need for God in my life. I was quite satisfied with my present plan, I wasn't interested in his input. Since that time, my outward life hasn't changed much, but my inner life has continued to grow. I still have no earthly possessions but I live by the grace of my sisters; and God. My sisters bought a microphone that would hook up to the computer and record a song; those same songs that were popping into my head. I listen to the wonderful singers, the polished bands, and the professional stylings of the artists on this music site and wonder at my audacity and my sanity. These songs come from my heart, from my experience, and I would have to say most certainly from God. There is no fancy mixing or professional flourishes here. There is simply me, the borrowed guitar, and God's songs. These songs are dedicated to God.... and to my mother. I would hope they could touch, or change, someone else's life as much as they have changed mine. I now have only one goal in life; God's will be done. I surrender.
