Emerald Park are an indie-pop outfit from Malmo, Sweden, which has recently released their second album – “For Tomorrow” where the band perform bright, catchy songs, refreshingly free of artifice. Founded in 2001 the band started as a “No-Depression” act. Since then Emerald Park has gone through several changes. New bandmembers and a new producer has led the band in another direction. The only thing connecting the old Emerald Park and the new is the acoustic guitar, which still plays a significant role in the sound. The influences range from Stars, New Order, Wilco and Death Cab for Cutie to Beatles, Cure and Arcade Fire. ”For Tomorrow” was recorded during 2007 except ”Open” and ”Lights of Sunday” which appeared on the ”Open” EP from 2006. Ola Frick of Moonbabies was the producer and tutor and this cooperation really helped the music into its new direction. He, of course, has made a great impact on the sound, but he always understood what intentions the band had with their music. In the winter of 2008 Emerald Park, the German netlabel/management/promoter AF-Music in Duisburg and the distributor DanseMakabre decided to release the record. And after almost eight months of preparations the record was released in November. Even before the actual release the album was awarded ”Album of the week” both on spanish national radio (”Disco Grande”) and on a couple of German and Swedish student radio stations. In December and January the song ”The Commonfield” has been on rotation on Swedish National Radio (P3) and that, of course, has made an impact. During January, February and March the song ”Lights of Sunday” was Top 15 at the SWF Dasding ”Netzparade” in Germany.
