I'd heard I couldn't audition for the pops concert they have at the end of the year unless I could accompany myself. This was a day or so before the audition. Well I couldn't pass up the chance to perform, so I borrowed my dad's guitar and worked on learning the three chords to Buddy Hollys Its so Easy all night. The next day at the audition, I was the only person accompanying myself. Thanks to that episode, I not only learned to play guitar, I learned to check my sources. I have been playing guitar ever since. In the eighth grade I told my teacher I wanted to be president when I grew up. She laughed and declared she'd leave the country if that happened. So I decided I would be a writer -- much more practical. Ha. I have been writing since I was little; I used to write short books. By about third grade I realized that no one had the time or inclination to sit down and read a poorly written, 12-page, 10-point font story by a third grader. Not even my dad. So I started writing short poems. The highlight of my poetry career was an earnest contribution to a family friend's proposal to his girlfriend. By the end of high school, this had evolved into bad songwriting. To improve those "skills," I studied music and writing in college in Boston at Berklee. Now I'm performing in and around New York. If I'm not playing at a club, you can probably find me playing on the L Train platform. No, I'm not homeless.
