''End Over End' basically means to start over. It is about reincarnation and that’s what I felt I was doing, going from the end of one band to the start of another...being reborn”. Scott Halls (founder of End Over End) With a refreshing blend of originality and commercial appeal, ‘End Over End’ is fast making a splash in the contemporary pop/rock scene. The tight Wollongong/Southern Highlands-based band, comprised of Scott Halls (ex-Triggermoose guitarist) on vocals and guitar, Adam Ramos on bass, Richie Parker on drums and Brendan Biddle (The Electric Syndicate) on lead guitar, are converting audiences state-wide with their catchy guitar tracks and melodic vocal lines. What is the key to the success of ‘End Over End’s’ material? Halls says: simplicity. “Too many bands focus on being different and out there, we just wanna play the stuff we love and get people tapping along”. Whilst recognising, from rock greats like the Foo Fighters, that ‘sometimes the simplest is the strongest’, make no mistake, ‘End Over End’ is no straight-down-the-line, heavy-handed rock band. Parker, originally trained as a jazz drummer, adds a layer of intricacy to the band’s sound, prizing subtlety and precision over intensity. Ramos and Halls are both greatly influenced by punk music, their catchy, fast guitar/bass tracks providing an interesting twist to the more spaced-out rock tradition. Excavating the music however, we are confronted with a lyric that is equally powerful. Whilst the guys like to write about real life situations, be it relationships or self-discovery, they also aren’t afraid to tackle more intriguing concepts. The 2008-released 5 track E.P. ‘End Over End’, recorded at Megaphon studios in Sydney (Kisschasy, The Butterfly Effect, Grinspoon), is a testament to the well-rounded skills of these guys, both as songwriters and musicians. Along with a couple of contributions to International Compilation albums, End Over End have been featured on a Tuff Trucks DVD. If you don't know what Tuff Trucks is, you ain't tuff enough. 2 New EP's are also in the works, one of which should hit you in the face by March 2010.
