Every now and again, a band takes two completely misaligned elements, and combines them to make something that would've made sense all along. Something that people will hear and say I should have done this YEARS ago. This is Eternal Essence. - WrankMusic.com EJ on Drums Greg on Piano/Synths Josh on Bass Gary on Guitar Progressive Rock. A genre that remains untouched, almost feared, by the plebians, the lay persons, the novices of the local music scene. Indeed, the technical prowess, theoretical knowledge, and dedication required for progressive rock lie just beyond the reach of all but the most daring of musicians. It is a unique breed, an enigma unto itself, an ode to the extreme, a sound that penetrates the deepest fathoms of the human psyche, and yet, like a wild animal, remains unyeilding to the hands that seek to control it. Enter Eternal Essence. In the Spring of 2004 in Atlantic City, NJ, three musicians joined forces with a single motive: conquer the world. EJ was the backbone, harnessing his technical precission at drums with machine-like intensity. Josh forged the structure through bass, utilizing his own unique playing style and complex basslines to create surreal and violent landscapes of beauty. Greg was in charge of the keys, devising ethereal textures over the drums and bass, breathing life into the progressive golem. Combined, they created something yearned for by many, but belonging only to them. A creation of chaos and beauty. For two years, Eternal Essence composed music, perfected their skills, and assaulted the music scene relentlessly with their progressive vision. Pop punk, indie rock, hardcore, rap, it didn't matter; Eternal Essence pushed themselves upon all genres, and the people responded. They quickly won over fans all over central and south NJ, and erupted all over the local newspapers and radio stations, playing in numerous battles of the bands, and being reviewed and interviewed by countless zines and sites. The lineup was completed in September 2006 with the addition of guitarist Gary Hoffman, who finally brought the sound of the band to it's fully realized state with his technical and sophisticated guitar skill. Few others had the ability to contribute to the band what Gary brought to the table, and now, the music had taken on a new-yet-familiar meaning.
