While most 11 year olds are still watching cartoons on Saturday mornings, Exit 2 Enter’s Griffin Johnson was writing, recording, and producing songs he started writing before he was 10. By 2009, Johnson was playing locally with various musicians, but was looking for a specific sound and a more fun musical experience. He chatted up Ben Goldman one day who was also disenchanted with his current band. Within a short time they realized their common musical influences such as Paramore, A Day to Remember, and Foo Fighters, along with their talent and passion, would take them to a new level together. Goldman suggested Mitch Gorman on drums and after the original guitar player left the band longtime friend and most recent E2E member Eric Reyes joined in on Lead guitar. With solid rhythm guitar, and wild singing and stage presence from Griff, guitar playing and solos that much surpass age from Eric, nice tight bass playing from Ben, and “in the pocket” drumming along with some of the best stage presence ever seen by Mitch, E2E is a melting pot of rhythms and styles creating a sound that only they can serve up.
Early on, the band received a lot of attention and accolades for writing, recording, and producing their own material. Their energetic and captivating live shows exhibit a musical experience beyond their young years. E2Es solid delivery and professionalism has made them in demand at local venues, festivals, and events. They have won various awards, including being chosen over 200 Chicago bands to play as one of the five groups in the Taste of Chicago Battle of the Bands. E2E has also played before a Chicago White Sox game, been featured On Demand for Time Warner Cable, and opened for national recording act Bellevue Suite. The band laid the tracks of what became E2E’s first CD and included the popular singles “Give it Again” and “2+2”. Currently, these talented musicians are writing new songs and finishing up their full length album. With their driving rhythms, melodic hooks, and songs that make you sing along, this band will only get better. This group of 14 and 15 year olds will rock any event and leave you wanting more.
