Fiction Smiles was formed by high school students Max Thomson-Kurz, Matthew Meeker, and Sepp Zimmermann in the August of 2009. Max (Guitar and Vocals) and Matt (Bass and Trombone) met together several months before in a metal band where they first discovered their musical chemistry. They went on to play in several other bands until they wanted to start a band as just a three piece. Fiction Smiles was formed by high school students Max Thomson-Kurz, Matthew Meeker, and Sepp Zimmermann in the August of 2009. Max (Guitar and Vocals) and Matt (Bass and Trombone) met together several months before in a metal band where they first discovered their musical chemistry. They went on to play in several other bands until they wanted to start a band as just a three piece. As they searched throughout the summer jamming with different drummers they finally came across Sepp, who soon became the third component of the newly christened Fiction Smiles.
