Fish For Bears is a Northern New Jersey based acoustic band made up of only two kids, Brandon Saxon and Adam Melchor. Brandon is 17 years young, he plays guitar and drums and will lay down a sick freestyle to one of Adam's beat box beats. Adam sings and plays guitar and piano. They started out in January of 2008 but have been friends since late 2006 when they were in the same biology class. They have great chemistry, especially because of the very ironic fact that they did not know that either person was musically involved.
After they found out, they formed the New Jersey Diner Bums, just for the PTHS battle of the bands. It was mostly electric with some acoustic. They played with a bunch of other kids and won. After failed attempts to stay together, Brandon and Adam were the only remaining people to stay together. Together they formed what at the time was the Acoustic Gangsters. The name didnt fit and they really didnt have one for a while.
Their first show playing together acoustically was at the intermissions of the One Act competition at PTHS. They went under the name of Ron Jenkins Gets All The Fat Chicks, and played covers. At the time, Adam had an idea for a song. This idea later become their first song, Through My Words. The song sparked an ignition of what would lead to 13 songs. Adam finally came up with a name too. The name was Fish For Bears. After long arguments of whether the name was adequate for the band, they finally agreed that it was a nice mug of awesomeness.
In May 2008, they won battle of the bands again, and actually started recording. They recorded with Kyle Carberry, and handed out CD's to anyone who would want one. They are currently working on their album, At Pomona's End, which should be finished by 2009.
