Biography

It's like watching a man standing on the balcony of a rundown motel with a pistol in his hand, barrel shaking pressed to his head, watching the snow fall as he ponders whether to do it and plummet into the snow to be dug out days or weeks later, flesh frozen and puckered, purpled, or go back inside and jerk off, empty and meaningless. It is the stark absence of light colliding with the warmth of new skin, a skeletal smile with a cigarette propped in the gapped teeth of the exposed jaw. Flushe...

Flushed cheeks, sweating, a bit of blood flowing from a fresh wound, For You, the World gnaws at your chest like a cannibalistic chill pressing razor teeth to teat, refusing to release. For You, the World started playing together in 2007 when Vassie Hollamon and Sid LaPorte (both ex- Lithium) abandoned their previous musical project for something with a simpler, more natural, emotional approach. The result was both exciting and tumultuous. The band went through a handful of different songs, ideas, instrumentations, and other musicians. Even in the midst of playing shows with bands such as Color Revolt and Farewell Flight, both heroes to the young musicians, something was missing that Vassie on guitar and Sid on drums could not seem to create. In the waxing months of 2009 they found what they were missing. Nic Johnson (ex- Renton Cannon) began playing bass and adding back-up vocals to the mix. The resulting concoction of ideologies, musical styles, and influences led to things both beautiful and abrasive, beguiling and caustic. The musical ideas they had in their heads were finally being realized thanks to the efforts of the three. After only a few shows as a complete unit, and the labors of engineer/producer John Wenger, the band eagerly awaits the release of their co-produced "For You" E.P. due out in late 2009/early 2010. - Logan Marston
