Further Room began as any other band; with a couple friends, a guitar, and a need to write. But while most other bands dedicated time to jamming and playing through covers, further room dedicated themselves, first and foremost, to their song writing. All it took was one weekend recording at the beach to figure out music was the only thing worth pursuing. Soon after, front men Barrett Self and Adam Palmer, began their collaborative writing process. Their writing continued through emails while Adam was away at college in Pennsylvania and during sleepless spring break sessions; and while being 200 miles apart may seem like the worst imaginable way to start a band, it allowed further room to completely devote themselves to perfecting their song writing. Four years and one and half degrees later, they set up shop in Columbia, SC. Pieces began to fall into place as the duo brought on local drummer Matt Lewis and, with him, got one step closer to the full sound they were striving for. Another unexpected addition came in the form of classically trained violinist Lizbet Kloot, whose influence on the band is widely apparent throughout further room's album and live set. Six months later, Further Room's debut album, "Needful Things", was released worldwide. Combining heartfelt lyrics, double melodies, and an overall sound that spawned from the melding of four musical minds from four different musical backgrounds, "Needful things" truly took on a life of it's own apart from a definable genre. Shortly after the album release, the last piece of the puzzle was finalized, as the band brought on bassist, Mike Shirk, to help rock things out in their live set. Overall, Further Room is a passionately emotive band, whose sound has the capability of garnering fans of all genres, and in all different music scenes. Further Room's album takes their audience on an emotional flight, composing and playing songs that are stripped down and raw with emotion, as well as songs amped up and filled with contagious energy. The band is in the process of playing live shows regionally and pushing their album into the ears of regional, nation, and world wide listeners, and with a mere 6 months together in their belt, the future is bright.
