FYRES came together on a sunny afternoon in June 2010, when Kameron Waters, Jonathan Korszyk, and Chris Franz met with Wayne Miller at Aroma Café in Studio City, CA. They spoke of their coming opportunities, the weather, and then asked Miller to join the band. Waters (drums) had just moved to Los Angeles from Atlanta on a zealous whim. He had played music only once with Franz (guitar) and Korszyk (vocals, keys), but the chemistry was found to be positive. They each shared a similar passion for social issues, wanting to contribute their voices in helping to bring awareness to issues such as poverty, inequality and renewal. The musical chemistry was a motivating factor as well. Franz is a producer/songwriter/musician, originally from Fresno, CA, who has worked with and produced several Los Angeles artists. He and Korszyk built a musical camaraderie while working together on Korszyk’s solo project, “Vienne”. The two found success and gained exposure to national audiences in 2009 when songs from the Vienne EP were placed on Chuck (NBC), Gossip Girl (CW), and Teen Mom (MTV). After auditioning a number of drummers, Waters was invited to join the project in May of 2010. In need of a bassist, they extended an invitation to Miller (bass), a gigging musician and producer (Lenka, Paul Freeman) and friend who had played with Vienne on a few occasions. The quartet began to work on new material and soon realized that their combined efforts and influences were steering the band into a new territory. A unanimous decision was made to shift the group’s concentration from Vienne, to a completely new entity. The resulting band is "FYRES," a name derived from a John Donne poem describing the "fyres" of passion burning in the soul of man. FYRES are currently writing and recording songs at The Coal Mine, Franz's self-owned and operated studio in Los Angeles. The band’s immediate goal is to create a batch of singles that are innovative, inspiring, and honest. These works will be released as digitally over the coming months. FYRES objective for 2011 is to assemble a team capable of bringing the group before national audiences and beyond. Stay tuned for soon-to-come releases; And renegade live performances in Fall 2011.
