Giants in the Earth may sound like a band, but it's actually a singer-songwriter with an unusually big sound -- the solo effort of Adam Jermstad. As an Austin-based artist, Jermstad prides himself on being crafty with his words and talented with his guitar… and piano, both of which he plays on his debut record. Under the skillful watch of Blue October bassist/established producer Matt Noveskey, Giants in the Earth released its first full-length album, 'The Drug,' in November of 2011. Apparently, when you mix lifelong dedication to a career art and sheer talent the result is soulful rock blended with mellow pop. In short, Giants' sound is something pleasant and well, unique. And much unlike the muddied noise on mainstream radio, the beauty is truly in the lyrics. After touring for 10 years regionally and pouring everything into getting the album on the shelves, Jermstad is hyper-focused on Giants in the Earth's next move: a series of EPs which will almost literally be his heart in music form. While finding a balance between a deep love of music and maintaining a 'real life' can be challenging, the Texas native is just thankful to be in a city where it seems to work.
