About God's Image

Mechanicsville, VA

GI consists of four anointed and appointed young gentlemen by the names of Branden, Marlon, Curtis, and Lamonte. The name GI stands for "God’s Image" (Genesis 1:26-27).The group was formed in 1998, and has been singing together across the world together for 10 years!

The ministry and mission of GI is to reach as many saved and especially unsaved souls as God allows. Through their ministry and music, they declare that people will become saved, healed, delivered, and closer to Christ. (Mark: 16-15-18)

If you googled God’s Image, you would find a link to the website of four anointed and gifted young men - Branden, Marlon, Curtis, and Lamonte. The guys are not only group members, but brothers, having grown up together. They are singers, dancers, songwriters, and musicians. It is rare that you find all of these talents wrapped up into one unit. The group’s name, G.I., which stands for God’s Image, is derived from Genesis 1:26-27 which reads “then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness…”

Having been together for 10 years, the group has accumulated a heavy fan base across the country and has performed at major venues and events such as The World Famous Apollo Theater, The Verizon Center, The Bobby Jones Gospel Artist Retreat, and GMWA Conventions. The group has be on the same stage with artists such as Mary Mary, Trin-i-tee 5:7, Tye Tribbett and GA, Shirley Caesar, Byron Cage, Tonex, Dorinda Clark-Cole, and the Beach Boys, just to name a few.

“Get Up” is the first single from G.I.’s highly anticipated debut album. The video for "Get Up” was shot in Richmond, Virginia and features relatives of G.I. and locals dancing along to the song.

BET star producer, Tia Smith of Talented Sol Productions and R&B video director, Bobby Yan, produced “Get Up”. Yan’s music video for Louisiana rapper Hurricane Chris, entitled “A Bay Bay”, was one of the top ten videos of the year in 2007. Smith pulled together a star production team with industry leaders, Alejandro Lalinde, Stylist Stacey Jordan , and Luduh.

According to CEO of Black Smoke Music World Wide, Kerry Douglas, this video will be a favorite among G.I.’s fans across the country and will surely attract even more fans from all walks of life.

“This video will take the group to new heights because it showcases their God given abilities as performers,” says Douglas. “These guys have a unique gift to reach both the churched and the “unchurched.” They will use their gifts to take the world by storm.”

Executive VP of Market Strategy and Promotions for Black Smoke, Stephney Thomas, looks forward to seeing the video shown on national television networks.

“It’s a great video,” says Thomas. “It wouldn’t surprise if the video causes the song to crossover from Gospel to the Urban AC charts.

G.I.’s full-length album will be released on April 7, 2009. Written mostly by members of G.I., “GOD’S IMAGE” (the CD) has something for everyone, including teenagers, young adults, and the grown and mature audience. It embraces various styles of gospel music, including contemporary and traditional. In addition to “Get Up,” their contemporary-meets-traditional smash hit “Something Got A Hold of Me” will have everyone on their feet shouting for the Lord. “Temptation” is another cut from the CD that will undeniably be another fan favorite.
