About goldenbear

Brooklyn, NY

In August 2006, Austin's Golden Bear announced itself to the world with a melodious roar. The band's self-titled debut, co-produced by Erik Wofford [My Morning Jacket, Explosions in the Sky, The Octopus Project], featured collaborations with luminaries of the Austin music scene including Will Oldham cohort Pink Nasty and pedal steel legend Lloyd Maines

Rather than go into hibernation, the Bear spent most of December 2006 hunkered down in singer Chris Gregory's home studio, working on what would become their second album, "To the Farthest Star.

Golden Bear's guitar-driven, anthemic pop brims with a fist-pumping exuberance that's drawn comparisons to The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket and Arcade Fire -- and earned the Austin band a reputation as a force to be reckoned with.
