Born January 9, 1993, Grace Hannah Jessop seemed to start her life humming. When her hums turned to song, it was clear that Gracie J had a special talent she wanted to share. She first performed at age 6 at the Kenbrook Elementary School Talent Show, wowing both students and parents with her sweet but convincing version of “That Don’t Impress Me Much”. Each year that followed brought the same question to the Talent Show – “What will Gracie sing this year?” While happily studying piano, Gracie found a loving interest in her Mom’s guitar. With a few brief instructions, the music grew and the songs were born. Gracie J wrote her first song, “Anthem of the Century”, at the early age of 13. Gracie’s early teenage demeanor was quiet, but she wanted nothing more than to perform. At the local “Idol” competition she met Bruce Pooley, creator, owner, and operator of The Next Stage, a performance workshop for young kids and teens. Gracie J soon moved on to more public performances. At 14, she sang for a crowd of hundreds in Fruitport, MI, opening for her father’s band, Bo White and the Bluezers, at the annual Fruitport Festival. The crowd was amazed at both her full sound and young age! The songwriting rapidly continued. By age 15, Gracie J had written as many songs as her years. And her performances continued to grow. Some of these locations include: Fruitport Festival - Fruitport, MI Howard City Music in the Park - Howard City, MI JB Memorial Concert - Muskegon, MI Tamarack Camps - Ortonville, MI Farmington Music in the Park - Farmington Hills, MI Farmington Idol - Farmington Hills, MI First Cup Organic Grind - Redford, MI Solid Grounds Coffee House - Northville, MI Komen Detroit Race for the Cure - Detroit, MI North Farmington High School Coffee House & NF Live Douglas Corners; Nashville, TN Commodore Lounge; Nashville, TN The list continues. Gracie' recent trip to Nashville resulted in several live performances. She is now a member of NSAI - the Nashville Songwriter's Association, International. Gracie looks forward to continue growing, learning, and experiencing all the musical opportunities she can. “I want to share my music with anyone who would like to share it with me.”, says Gracie. “I want to share my love for music with the world.” Her original music appeals to all ages and musical genres.
