Greg Shaw was born May 27, in New Brunswick, NJ. This recording artist /songwriter of African-American, West Indian, Native American and Irish descent grew up in Old Bridge, NJ. His strong musical background derives from his mother, who loved to sing and dance; as well as his father, who played at various New York City venues as a polished guitarist and keyboardist in a band. Greg Shaw began singing at his Baptist Church at the age of 4 years old. By 9, he played the alto saxophone in the school band, and continued for the next 4 years. 90’s Hip Hop and R&B heavily influenced his life--Tupac Shakur LL Cool J and Busta Rhymes particularly contributed to his desire to pursue a music career. “Breakthrough” explains Greg Shaw‘s struggle, knowledge and future impact on the music industry. He sees a particular lack of creativity, and knows that he can fill that void where others have not. Greg Shaw tested the boundaries of his songwriting skills and delivered a unique sound on this challenging project. During this time, he was also reconstructing his image, as well as switching from Hip-Hop to Mainstream. Greg Shaw believes re-imaging his brand and transitioning to a new genre is the only way to challenge his creativity. “Breakthrough” has a “Mainstream” sound, and a “Hip Hop” influence--The combination of lyrical content and the structure of the 3 songs exemplify this balance. Shaw enhanced the sound of his music by collaborating with singers Kashmere and Sarah Julez. This partnership brought an entirely new sound into his work and elevated its creativity. Aside from this collaboration, he spent an extensive amount of time working with Harry Rockafella and Solo Productions Studios to help structure the project to make it a success.
