After releasing several electronica records over the last few years under the name of nimp, Frenchman, Guillaume Eluerd, recently finished recording his first solo ‘songwriter’s’ album: The Year of the Dog, leaving electronic music behind him, and taking back his own name. Being also a scriptwriter means that Guillaume spends a lot of his time making up stories and trying to figure out what imaginary people would say to one another in made up conversations. His music seems to come from the same thought process. Midway between the roughness of Americana Acid Folk luminaries and an aching and subtle beauty, Eluerd’s soft voice knows how to hypnotise its audience with simple melodies and a touch of grace. Words of kindness follow: "I enjoyed the cd you sent via Opium. Your voice and music have real charm" David Sylvian "I've listened to it everyday since I received it while working, I've kept it on 'repeat'. I've now heard the album over 100 times and all I can say is BRAVO, MASTERPIECE. It's by far one of my favorite albums on the planet." Adam Kramer "I guess the most beautiful thing I heard this year, which was an even bigger surprise because it arrived completely by surprise in my mail one day, was from a French songwriter named Guillaume Eluerd. The sampled ping pong game as percussion on "Paper of Armenia (Not So Quiet) is genius alone. And the horns on "Friends" make my heart swell. He sounds a little like Nick Drake some times, but with more energy." Chris Eaton from Rock Plaza Central "Melancholy, original and very beautiful music!" Stephen Hiscox "I often found myself to listen this CD, and I will keep on doing it for a long while." Inkoma "Delicate art of songwriting, a fragile work to be used with adequate precautions : silence, a comfortable position and light darkness… " www.rockmydays.com
