THE HAVNOTZ is made up Jermaine Davis (No Mercy) and Cecil Carryl (DJ Sik Chyld). Childhood friends growing up in South Jamaica, Queens, they began their careers as professional dancers for Travisty Entertainment. Later, they began to develop their skills as MC’s. Building their studio piece by piece, NoMercy and DJ Sik Chyld are not only dancers/rappers; they have evolved into writers, producers and business men. Their popularity and versatility as artist is noticeable when opening for hip hop acts such as Fat Joe, Elephant Man and DIP set at Nassau Coliseum. THE HAVNOTZ opened for the other well known artist such as Carl Thomas, Mase (Bad Boy), Kayne West (RocaFella Records), expanding their audience base. As artist they continued to make a name for themselves. THE HAVNOTZ were awarded “Best Underground Rap Duo” at the Underground Music Awards (Urban Threshold). They have performed in a number of venues in New York City such as, Triad Theatre, Speed, Soul Café, Demerara’s, Village Underground, Groove, Club Downtime, BB Kings, Club 101, The Remote Lounge, The Pyramid, Nells, The Baggot Inn, MARS 2112, Club Shine, SOB’s, Wetlands, Peppers Lounge, Club New York, and Club Cheetah (Manhattan); Encore, Club Amazura, Club A, Industry Lounge, Night of the Stars, and The Harvest Room (Queens); Jimmy’s Bronx Café (The Bronx); Ovations and Port Knockers (Brooklyn). They were one of many artists featured on Future Voices, a soon to air national television show. The duo’s popularity is not limited to the Metropolitan area. THE HAVNOTZ have taken their sound and performance to other states (i.e., Atlanta, D.C.) as well as overseas. They traveled to the British Virgin Islands where they opened for Maxi Priest and Jon Lucien. The response from the people of Tortola was overwhelmingly positive. THE HAVNOTZ are deeply involved in community issues. For example they performed to increase awareness regarding the seriousness of HIV in the “ Life Beat’s Hearts and Voices” concert. As producers, THE HAVNOTZ have worked on various projects including producing music for New York Times and Blackboard best selling author, Omar Tyree and NBA all star player Ron Artest with the track title “Rep Your City” With 15 years of experience in the entertainment industry, NoMercy and DJ Sik Chyld have an innate ability to connect to their audience. Their accomplishments have been featured in Rap Pages Magazine. Throughout the country, THE HAVNOTZ have been charted at the top 5. These radio stations report to CMJ, Rap Attack Lives and INSOMNIAC MAGAZINE. Their clever concepts and lively stage performance makes THE HAVNOTZ the group for the future. While their music is creative and unique, they consistently raise the bar and reinvent themselves. This type of versatility can be illustrated by the completion of their first nineteen-track compilation CD entitled "Poor Riches" which was followed by their recent composition entitled “Hip Rock” which is a combination of hip hop and traditional rock music. All songs were written and produced by THE HAVNOTZ. THE HAVNOTZ gained sponsorship from the world-class clothing companies ENYCE, and AVIREX. The ENYCE Company recognized the special talents of THE HAVNOTZ, thus allowing them to market their many fashions during their performances. THE HAVNOTZ produced and performed the AVIREX fall commercial which was played on the AVIREX website and being played at various fashion events. When you take the pure essence of Hip-Hop with the energy Rock roll gives, and combine the two Genres you get Hip-Rock. THE HAVNOTZ is Hip-Rock. THE HAVNOTZ are doing for the artists that HAVE NOT HAVE the opportunity to shine in this industry.
