LOVE ALIVE" established itself in 2003 when L.A based singer Patricia Morales wanted to pay tribute to one of her biggest musical inspirations and to one of the greatest American Rock N Roll Bands to hit a stage, Heart. The Los Angeles based tribute band enjoyed a successful 3 year stint on the hugely popular tribute act circuit. As changes started to come about within the band and the continued identity crisis with in the music scene in general, Patricia felt more of a pressing conviction to go a step further. Stepping back, she took a long look at what she had built and where to take the band next. As 2007 rolled around, it was extremely evident that the music industry was littered with Pop throwaway bands, high ticket prices for sequenced computerized concerts, American Idol rejects and bands who's only fame and playing experience came from Youtube or Myspace. The days of real rock bands being together a few years slugging it out on stages night after night to carve out an identity, unique sound, and a kick ass stage show…seemed now a distant memory or few and far between. Morales with a renewed vision and mission wanted to produce a band that aimed to bring back the basics of how these giant acts of the 70's like Heart played and grew organically into one of the most exciting rock acts in history. "LOVE ALIVE" wanted to fully re-create Heart during their heyday from the "inside out". Morales knew this was going to take a lot of work and a special key group of people to catch the vision. The revamped 2006 lineup has managed to capture this by becoming a real act with in an act. "It's as if "Heart"- stepped on stage mind and soul" in 1977 mode" states Morales. LOVE ALIVE's aim is to truly step away from being just a well oiled cookie cutter polished re-gurgitation act, with costumes, bad wigs or renditions of the hits. Morales and company dug deep to find out where the bands true individual musical roots laid that included American Blues, Soul, rock and the British mega bands of the late 60's. This also included bringing the bands experimentations, and all to the stage. Achieving this included a crucial process of getting actual fans to join the band to bring formulate the mindset. With a mixture of experienced Blues/ Rock players and Rock history buffs, they preceded by going over stacks of soundboard concert performances during Heart's heyday from 1975-1985 including many bootleg film sources all the while, dissecting the bands history. Discovering that Heart never seemed to do anything twice, especially on stage, is what made the music constantly evolve keeping it fresh and something that's missing so much from the polished perfected approach of today's music. Their whole approach was organic and felt. This is the perfect formula to capture what Heart was aiming for themselves, as Ann, Nancy, Roger, Howard, Steve and Mike stepped on stage to play. Whether it be Heart songs, Zeppelin tunes or playing Earth Wind and Fire. LOVE ALIVE found that tapping that inner groove separates them from the rest while creating that 1975-85 signature sound as if Heart truly stepped into the new millennium and time warped through LOVE ALIVE. ..................................... Presskit Bio Patricia Morales Vocals (Ann Wilson) One day in the early 1960s, over a radio somewhere in Agoura Hills, California came a voice with the power to shock someone into changing their life forever. Naturally, we speak of Doris Day. Okay, okay, maybe she’s not awe-inspiring to you, but to five-year-old Patricia, her singing Que Sera Sera was nothing less than an angel saying, go forth and be a singer of songs and a kicker of ass. Patricia sang through elementary school, discovered Heart, Led Zeppelin and Rush in high school, sang so long in the shower, her parents’ water bill began to equal the national debt of Guatemala. Once on her own, she went professional with her first band, Radio Waves. Since then, she has backed up Bruce Willis, performed with Bobby Kimball of Toto and others. In 2003, she founded DreamBoat Annie, her first Heart Tribute band. A year later, she met Richard Graham, her destiny was attained and Love Alive was born. Que sera sera indeed. Patricia plays Flute. Jeannie Austin Guitar and Vocals (Nancy Wilson) Jeannie was born in New York City. Her first thoughts upon entering the world were, “Oh, crap!” And no wonder. She had been born on the wrong coast. Even as a baby, she knew her destiny lay in Los Angeles. Her parents moved the family to Nevada, where Jeannie was nurtured on the neon and adrenaline of Las Vegas. By the time she was grown, she was a double threat. Armed with both acting and music talents, she made her move. Now, happily nestled in LA, she works in television and theatre, acting, producing and directing. However, her favorite creative outlet is music, and she’s honed her chops with several bands, including Slow Hand Blues, Heart Brigade, The Chain and Heartless. Jeannie plays Martin, Takamime Hohner and Hofner acoustic guitars, Gibson Les Paul and Austin electric guitars. She also plays the perfect “Nancy” for Love Alive. Her destiny is fulfilled. The stars are aligned. All is right with the world. Chad Quist Technical Guitar (Roger Fisher) Legend has it that Chad is the fortunate result of a mad Nazi experiment to create the perfect guitarist. Don’t believe it? Then consider these incontrovertible facts. He has a German name. He likes strudel. And he is a perfect guitarist. Flexible of mind and fingers, focused and unfazed by any madness on stage, he adds the glint of ultra-professionalism to Love Alive. We happen to like the Nazi experiment story, but Chad claims his career was triggered by his first hearing of Johnny B. Goode. It doesn’t matter. The proof is on stage. And has been for years. In fact, he was just heading out on a national tour with another band when Love Alive took him as their own. Important Chad Quist facts: the favorite string of his guitar is the ‘g’ string; Chad plays Gibson and Fender guitars; Mesa Boogie amplifiers give him satisfying-but-embarrassing-to-explain dreams at night. Ori Huberman Guitars and Keyboards (Howard Leese) Ori’s parents took him to see the L.A. Philharmonic when he was just knee high to a piccolo. That was it. He was bitten with the music bug. After seeing The Doors in 1969, he was incurable. Doctors agreed, he had to start playing the guitar to survive. In 1974 he formed his first band, Mandrake, playing original songs in Hollywood and the southern California area. The crowning moment of these years was a 1st Place victory in a three-day Battle of the Bands Weekend at the L.A. Sports Arena. After five years and several demo recordings, Mandrake disbanded. Ori’s found himself seduced by the lure of cover songs and, for the next 20 years, kicked them out in bands with names like The Great American Party Band, Wrecking Crew and Dave’s Not Here. Packing a hard-learned 'pyromaniac' rock edge, Ori brings a deftness of style and a flaming lead virtuosity to Love Alive. Ori plays Kurzweil Keyboards, Jackson, Gibson and Martin guitars through Marshall Amplifiers. Adam Leon Bass Guitar (Steve Fossen) You look at Adam on stage, and you think, this guy is like some antediluvian god of rock ‘n roll bass guitar. Would you believe he started his music career as a French horn player. Yes, he catapulted to stardom in his elementary school’s symphonic band. A few years later, the English invaded and he was captured by the Beatles and the Stones. He saw his future, and it was rock and roll. Beginning as a guitar player, he found himself drawn more and more to the bass lines in the music. Before long, he took up the bass and never looked back. In 1982, Adam honed his art with other demi-gods of the business, like Steve Smith, the drummer of Journey. Love Alive owes its big, fat bottom and soulful groove to. Adam He uses Fender, Carvin and Warwick Basses, and Ashdown amplification. Richard Graham Drums (Michael Derosier) As Richard’s mom will tell you, “that boy has been beating on things since before he was born. His first drums were my kidneys.” Well, the first drums Richard remembers as a lad of seven were four trash cans, a bicycle basket and two soup spoons. Now he has played professionally for over 20 years in more than 50 bands and in all styles, from classical to Fusion Jazz. Biggest crowd: 30,000 at Mile High Stadium in Denver, Colorado. Smallest crowd: one guy nursing a beer and demanding “Freebird” at the Coach n’ Pull Bar in Laramie, Wyoming. Most Challenging Gig: Lead Percussionist and writer for a Stomp-inspired production. Richard joined with Patricia Morales in spring 2005. His kit includes Yamaha & D.W. drums, Paiste and ‘K’ Zildjian Cymbals, Sennheiser , AKG, & Shure Beta Mics, QSC Amplifiers, Macky, JBL, Lexicon, and Presonus P.A. He has a Bachelor of Science in Percussion, Audio Engineering and the Music Business.
