Artist LastNameSong was born Shannon Duane Song on May 23rd, 1984 in Ft. Knox, Kentucky. He is the son of Dorothea Song of West Virginia and Se Yong Song of Seoul, Korea. While his mother finished her military career, Song at the age of three and his older sister moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to live with their Grandparents Curtis and Pauline Morris. Song attended North Central High School on the North Side of Indianapolis. It was there that his interest of writing and rapping came about. He would rap to himself in his grandmothers basement, and also on his way to the bus stop every morning. Freestyle sessions soon followed with his friends, and of course Song would win. In October 2009 he then decided to start working with his brother-in-law a Producer and a local singer through a mutual friend who then provided vocals along with the equipment needed to record his songs. By mid 2010 Song had recorded a Mixtape titled "The Progress Report." By the end of 2010 with his family always being priority, he decided to take a hiatus from his music and focus on his family; Wife Shareen and two daughters Simone and Sara. Music never being to far away, Song told himself this time if he got back into music he would take on a new approach, new mindset, and new determination to show the world he can make music. Once again he found himself writing lyrics in his garage and bringing his passion of music back into his life. Today he is managed by Larry Bostic, Founder of Residual Mindset Mgmt. Blessed with his third child on the way, Song is more focused than ever. He works by day, and ferociously perfecting his music by night. He has joined creative forces with several Producers in the city and together with their work ethics, drive, and willingness to create good music, the possibilities are endless.
