At first glance of the name you might have a false assumption of what “Higha Medz” means but once you hear the music there is no doubt the message is music created and performed on a higher level. “Higha Medz” was formed out of two U.S. born child hood cousins Richard Farquharson aka Sinistah Sativah & Jaries Powel aka JA Barz who decided they wanted to create new-age music together celebrating their parents home county Jamaica. During the early days the two honed their style of music while living together and attending the same prep school in Kingtson before commuting back and forth from Jamaica to the New York and Boston areas. Sinistah started to earn a name for himself by entering rap battles as well as competing among other upcoming DJs. Both JA Barz and Sinistah Sativah take their study of music as serious as the creation of it as Sinistah has earned a B.A. in Audio and Media technology while JA Barz started Stainless/SKP Sound System in Jamaica. With a new twist on Jamaican music the two have poured their heart and soul in to making creative beats with intricate lyrics that speak directly to the soul of people with hopes to inspire them to live, love, and dance. Higha Medz has true love for the music born out of the ghettos in Jamaica, the U.S., and around the world so they embrace and celebrate music of a culture and youth demanding to be heard.
