Opener, "SONIC BOOM, BOOM, BOOM" a full-on Go-Team meets Motown at the intersection of Abby Road for a raucous Bass driven anthem with the best use of the words "Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah," hooks you instantly. Followed by "THE NIGHT CALIFORNIA FELL INTO THE OCEAN" which was written about living through the Northridge Earthquake in the 90s, is a tour de force in song craft and futuristic production. The infectious beat driven track ends with a female chorus repeating: "Something tells me things are never going to be the same".
Eighteen year-old drummer Nigel Anderson, felt strange using analog gear to create the wall of sound on their latest album. "We used an old Lowrey Organ with a real rotating Leslie speaker in it along with guitars, sitars and a six-string bass that was way older than me", explained Nigel. "Marolda is an old school artist and kept us away from using computers, but we did convince him to use some samples as long as they were from his extensive vinyl record collection", says Keyboardist Jackson Woodney. Still, the occasional lo-fi reference is quickly morphed into hook laden production techniques producer Marolda is known for.
“BURNT BY THE SUN” contains a bone chilling fuzz guitar solo over chord progressions only seasoned musicians could devise. The remaining tracks are like mini TV Space show episodes with musical twists and turns that you'd never expect, which is why this may not be the perfect radio ready set of tunes, but perfect for those who desire some creative and addictive aural pleasure.
The 14 tracks coming in under an hour goes by like an action movie, but the pace and energy may leave you "Galloping Into The Western Hemisphere" for your daily dose of musical caffeine.
