The band was formed in May 2006 by John and Manuele with the idea to mix the black metal sound with gothic ambient. The first name of the project was "Oscura Poetry" referring to the dark lyrics and the slow melancholy riffs; the band never released the first three recorded songs. After some lineup changes their sound evolved to something more raw and aggressive leaving the old way. The product is a sort of original metal with thrash, death and progressive influences, where sick riffs accompany the visionary voice. The lyrics involve solitude, society disturb and madness. So the band name changed from "Oscura Poetry" to "Human Dirge", a way to underline the message and the evolution of the musicians. The first EP Embryo was recorded at the "Elliott's Garage" (Rome) in December 2007 and it received a lot of good reviews in Italy and other countries either (check out the review' s section). The year 2008 engages Human Dirge in a lot of shows in Rome, Turin, Viterbo to promote the new EP. At the end of 2008 the "Dirge machine" decided to collaborate with Dark Tower/Nomadism Label in order to release a box set with three Embryo songs (Embryo, T.B.S. and Behind the lack) with others italian underground bands. In the early 2009 the band releases 3 brand new songs promo recorded at the "16th Cellar Studio"; currently the band is working on the promoting of the promo. More to come!
