Hunnye B. was born on July 2, 1986, in Birmingham, Alabama, into a middle class family. Her mother sung gospel and her father is a deacon, and so as a child Hunnye B. soaked up music in the gospel genre; she also listened heavily to R&B and pop, listing her favorite artist as Janet Jackson and SWV. Hunnye B. started learning Hunnye B.’s music is always under construction. Since the day she first learned to read and write, the music that she produced started and will continue to build. Hunnye B. is a singer, songwriter, and has experience working studio equipment. Music is her outlet, her escape, and her way of confronting things otherwise she could not have. Hunnye B. describes her music as her expresser, comforter, and innovator. “It helps me grow. Each day I write something, even if it is just a verse. I must keep my creative juices flowing without a break. It is what keeps me going.” She has written all of her work and is inspired by true life experiences, being someone that people can relate too. Hunnye B. started learning the piano at age 5 and wrote her first song at age 8. She began entering (and winning) poetry writing competitions. She sung for the Tarrant High School Choir, where she sung solos on several occasions. She was also an active member in the gospel group Persuaded Music Ministry from 2005-2007. She sang with the Afro-American Gospel Choir of the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa for a brief period in 2005. In 2008, Hunnye B. joined RCA recording artist Elaine Hudson, and together they formed the Shaydz ov Brown, a local dance band that performs Motown and r and b. In the band, she was known as Hunnye Brown. That is how she came up with her industry name as a solo artist. In February of 2009, she performed with Minister Prince Yelder and the Disciples for Christ at their live recording in Birmingham, AL, and at several other events including the Gospel Music Workshop of America. Hunnye B. will no longer sit on her dreams, but be proactive in making them come true. She has recently completed her first EP, Come and Get Some, which includes “Whatever I Like”, “Let Your Love Free”, and “Fool For You”. This is her passion. This is her mission. This is her impression. This is Hunnye B.
