UniverCity is a pop/ rap duo comprised of two artists, Genesis & L.S. As college students at rival Atlanta University Center institutions—Genesis, a Clark Atlanta University Student, and L.S., a Morehouse College Student—the two fused their life experiences, college tenure and innate talent to create the force that is UniverCity. Congruent with the group’s name, the two singer-songwriters hail from opposite ends of the country. L.S., also known as L.S.thaBest, hails from the sin city, Las Vegas, Nevada. But in this case, what happened in Vegas didn’t stay in Vegas; instead, it found its way to Atlanta in the form of a lyricist. With the initials L.S. standing for Lyrical Savage, L.S.’s tenacious yet fluid delivery style is a paradox. His work boasts of a raw quality that is few-and-far-between for unsigned artists these days, and yet, the ability to finesse his lyrics in perfect timing is appeasing to most any ear that encounters them. Genesis, on the other hand, is an east coaster. A native of Boston, Massachusetts, he had the opportunity to grow to love various genres of music, including pop, in order to diversify his palette. The producer/ singer-songwriter / rapper was blessed with the gift of multiple talents. Seen showcasing of the stages of America’s Best Dance Crew, America’s got talent and various other productions, it is with ease that Genesis pleases the crowd. Whether it is a bass-heavy head banger coveted by the south or a euro-pop ballad inspired by European culture, and popularized by the east coast, Genesis can create it. Since moving to Atlanta, Genesis has been fortunate to work with some of the industry’s finest as a writer, as a producer and as an artist. Simply put, he is humbled by their work.
