A progressive post-harcore indie band from Redditch and Birmingham in the UK’s midlands. The band was originally formed for the sole purpose of fulfilling a college project in January 2008, for which the members had to write and record a mini-album. Founding members Luke O’Gorman, Sam Wilson and Simon Khan, were all music technology students at N.EW. College in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire and had formed friendships through their shared passion for and eclectic tastes in music. Khan had been the drummer for Birmingham alternative rock band, ‘Certo Sermo’ for just under two years prior to befriending Wilson and O’Gorman. Wilson was also in a band as he had become the bass player for pop-rock band ‘Page 44’ less than a year prior. During this time O’Gorman was asked to join ‘Certo Sermo’ as a second guitarist by Khan. As the the three students worked together writing and recording music for their college project, they developed a strong emotional attatchment to the music they were creating and began to really enjoy working with one another. As the project progressed the idea of forming a permanent band became a more and more attractive prospect and finally the name ‘Idiosync’ was suggested by O’Gorman. As the band was primarily a three piece studio band with Wilson playing both guitar and bass on their original recordings, the members set about searching for both a bassist and a vocalist to complete the band. Nicholas Ebanks was also a student at N.E.W. College at the time and one day by chance heard a recording (later became the song ‘Shards’) that had recently been completed by the newly titled Idiosync. Ebanks was impressed by the track and showed interesting in joining the band as the required bassist. The members of Idiosync were aware that Ebanks had previously been the bassist and backing vocalist for Redditch band ‘Keiko’, who had acheived relative success in the UK by being signed to ‘Lockjaw Records’ and playing the ‘Download’ festival. The members of Idiosync knew of both Ebanks’ bass playing abilities and vocal talents and immediately decided that he was the perfect musician to complete their line-up. The line-up of Idiosync was finally complete in August 2008 with Khan on drums, both Wilson and O’Gorman on guitar and backing vocals, and Ebanks on bass and lead vocals. The band are very experimental in terms of musical stylings and enjoying pushing the boundaries of genres. Originally classing themselves as an indie band to satisfy the commercial music world, the band have now strayed more into the realms of modern progressive rock. The band combine a number of different elements such as hard dance beats, addictive riffs, atmospheric effects, dirty synth and pop vocal melodies to create a style somewhere between math-rock and drum ‘n’ bass. Idiosync have recently been signed to Godmonkey Recordings and have embarked on their first ever UK tour. In conjunction with this they have made 100 limited edition copies of their debut E.P. 'Symbiosis' available to buy on pre-release. The E.P. is available to order online from http://www.idiosyncband.bigcartel.com
