Imperfect Deity originally began in the summer of 2007 as a side project between G.P. Aguilar on guitars and keyboards, Andrei Aguilar on drums, and Ray Carbaugh on bass and vocals. After G.P. and Ray's full-time band split up, Imperfect Deity rose to the foreground. After writing eight songs, the band realized it was time to recruit members in order to start performing live. After trying to search for committed musicians, Imperfect Deity finally recruited Ryan Mitchell, who's band also split up, Carlos Esquivel, and Tomy Wilkerson, playing the guitar, keyboard, and bass respectively, and the full lineup of Imperfect Deity formed in early 2009. All being friends since high school, working and playing together was an easy job. Since then San Pablo, California's Imperfect Deity has been on a one way track to musical domination. Bringing their "unique" blend of traditional heavy metal with influences coming from melodic, death, black, and power metal sound to the Bay Area. Imperfect Deity's influence became apparent when the Contra Costa Times, and San Raphel Times approached the band to do an interview. Even at their very first show Imperfect Deity was full of promise, winning the Gorrilla Production Battle of the Bands Semi-finals and putting them on the bill for Gorrilla Production's Battle of the Bands Finals. Next on June 12th 2009, Imperfect Deity earned 2nd place in the Battle of the Bands Final, playing to 200+ people and selling 126 tickets alone. Imperfect Deity continues to work on material and building longer set lists. With two albums of music already written it is only a matter of time before a full length album comes to fruition. Until then Imperfect Deity works hard to get their name and music out to the Bay Area community.
