nf, Stands for "I'll Never Fail" But the Music stands for Inspiration and Positivity. I was born on December 8 1985 in Decatur, Illinois. Raised in Lansing, Michigan. My mother always encouraged me to do music, I started out playing the violin, upgraded to the Alto Sax, but by the time I hit 8th Grade I was writing rhymes and trying to figure out if Hip Hop was my calling. I was influcened heavily by East Coast and Midwest Emcees like Jay-Z, Slum Village, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots,Common and Talib Kweli. In High School I met a DJ (DJ Eclipse) and we formed a Group called the "Basement Click" I would battle other High School Rappers and perform in Local Talent shows from Lansing to Detroit. I met my mentor and Big Brother Anthony Thompson at church and he took me under his wing, Encouraging me to become more involved in my school studies read, pray and listen to all types of music. In 2005 I joined the Marine Corps, I served in Iraq and while I was enlisted I traveled the world and sharpened my craft as an Artist. In 2008 I was Honorably discharged and I moved to Los Angeles, where I got back into music and I attended the LA Recording School. It was there that I interned for various Multi Platinum producers and got to work on Projects for Artist like Macy Gray. In 2009 I began to work on my own music for a project I had been saving up content since my Iraq deployment. I started writing and I didn't finish until fall 2010. I had to make my transition into being a Man of God in order to create because many times before I tried to record music and It never felt complete. This transition became my EP "Above All Things".
