Insanguine is a 5-piece metal band progressively spanning various subgenres such as folk, melodic, and black metal. Simultaneously haunting and heavy, Insanguine’s dual male and female vocals conjure emotion while inspiring mosh pits and fist pumping. With a moniker Latin for “in blood,” the band writes songs of battle and tragedy, of nature and adventure, and of foes and family. Brothers Jarien and Tay Sky began playing guitar and writing songs together as young teens, sometimes the strongest binding force for them in facing life’s perils. They focused on increasing technical ability on guitar, thoughtful lyrics, and emotionally powerful vocals. They were influenced by many genres of rock, and became increasingly drawn to the complexity and intensity of metal. On April 20, 2009 the bloodline became stronger when Troy began drumming with the brothers at the legendary and scalding Forge of Malsmith. Thus was born Insanguine. In addition to percussive skill, Troy can also play the guitar and has vast knowledge of rock history. He played with various area bands before joining Insanguine. Several months later, the blood grew thicker when bassist Byron signed up for the ride, armed with a 6-string fretless and deep understanding of theory. Not only a veteran of the local music scene, he has also performed nationwide and has years of formal musical training. The group desired to progress its sound by adding a female vocalist, and in July 2010 longtime friend of the Sky brothers Gwendolyn began singing with group, her clear and cutting chanting complementing the guttural growls of the male vocalists. Having solidified its lineup, Insanguine began recording at Flat Black Studios. Layering multiple vocal melodies over the weaving dual guitars, pummeling bass, and thundering drums, Insanguine sound delved further into the realms of progressive and folk while remaining true to the brutal nature of melodic and black metal. Insanguine’s debut album Promise Remains From Sea to Snow was released December 18, 2010. The band continues to play live shows and write new material
