At the age of 18, two of my brothers passed away and to honor them, I began using the name Isaiah Mitchell. Isaiah is the nickname of one of my brothers while Mitchell was the middle name of my other brother. I thought it would be fitting to use this name as a soul artist to keep my brothers' memory alive. I sang in gospel choir at college, I sang in my church choir, and I was a member of Carolina Alive at the University of S. Carolina. With Carolina Alive, I had the honor of singing backup with Michael Bolton during his 1991 Time, Love, and Tenderness tour. I also sang backup as a part of the group for Andy Williams, and Charlie Daniels. During the 1993 national conference for Delta Sigma Theta, I was asked by their national president, Bertha Roddey, to perform prior to Regina Belle taking the stage. My life's dream has been to become a soul singer and now that I have the opportunity, I really want to make this happen!
