For all those who've been told you can't, you don't, or you won't, meet I-Will. This soulful, edgy crooner, a mixture of Anthony Hamilton and Gnarls Barkley's Cee-Lo Green, with a twist, brings smooth back to the south with a unique sound. In the R&B genre, relationships and sex sale, and I-Will delivers this with his first single release "Ice Cream." A song with a sexy and clever description of a sensual woman's body, a solid beat, and catchy hook, Ice Cream is a sure chart topper and an ideal song for I-Will's breakout single. I-Will was born Willie Porter, in a small town 25 minutes south of Houston, in the city of La Marque Texas. I Will's musical background began in church, but it was his older sister that introduced him to the music industry. She was a member of a very well known local group known as JOI. Will would attend rehearsals and studio sessions and soon realized that he too had a love for music. During a recording session with the H-Town Boyz, known for the song Keeping My Composure, I-Will took the opportunity to sing a tune for his sisters group, and took everyone by surprise, in a very good way. From that day, at a tender age of seven, his interest in music began, and the evolution to become the artist he was destined to be had begun. I-Will took the big step of leaving the small town for the big city in 2000 and called Houston home. Soon after, he began collaborating with some of the city's household producers and artists such as Himey, a well known producer who did work for the Screwed up Click, I-Will wrote the heavily rotated song's The Wood that featured Big Pokey, which was the answer back to Missy Elliot's Don't Fail Me Now, and Lap Dance. As I-Will began to develop his musical style, he took inspiration from some of the legendary great artists such as Stevie Wonder, Sam Cook, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, and Michael Jackson, and created a sound and flavor unique to I-Will. Of course with great talent comes great shoes to fill, and soon I-Will was being compared to R-Kelley, Anthony Hamilton, And Cee-Lo Green. However, I-Will stayed true to his style and after years of hard work and determination, fate led him to brush shoulders with the right people, at the right time, and I-Will signed on with the independant label UpperKut Entertainment Records, who placed him with super producer John Broussard a.k.a. Jab. Jab is well known for his work with Destiny's Child, Beyonce Knowles Dangerously In Love Project, Solange Knowles, and Lil Bow Wow's debut album, just to name a few. UpperKut Records had a vision to turn I-Will into a mega superstar so they quickly assembled a talented group of producers, writers, and engineers, to bring I-Will's revolutionary sound to the mainstream scene. With a sexy and clever description of a sensual woman's body, a solid beat, and catchy hook, Ice Cream is a sure chart topper and an ideal song for I-Will's breakout single. His album, which is as of now scheduled to be released in the first quarter of 2009 deals with real issues like losing love, pain, heartache, stress, sex, and then finding love all over again. With strong lyrics and great musical arrangements, this phenomenal artist, and debut album is sure to deliver something extraordinary.
