21 Year old Sydney based singer/songwriter Jack Carty started his career in the sleepy seaside town of Bellingen NSW. This simple country upbringing made its mark on Jacks music- from simple guitar ballads to the catchiest of roots/rock- until the age of 16 when he packed all his songs into a suitcase and headed to Sydney. When he arrived Jack set about playing venues all over town. Sometimes supporting and playing alongside the likes of Tim Freedman, Paul Green, Elana Stone, Shayne Nicholson and Paul Mac, sometimes headlining his own shows. But ALWAYS having a great time and building a strong following along the way. Then came 'The Party'. Three boys from the Mid North Coast of NSW (Tom Biffin & Pat Harris from Armidale, Daniel Saddleton from Bellingen) who set about literally bringing the party to Jacks personal, often pensive songs in a very funky way, bringing a wealth of afro beats, reggae rhythms and dub dance-ability to the mix. Since forming the boys have regularly wowed fans and won crowds at festivals and headlining shows around Sydney and the mid north coast, sharing stages with artists such as Lovers Electric, Charlton Hill & The Jezabels just for good measure. In August 2008 Jack Carty & The Party were announced as one of the 6 finalists in the nation-wide “roots rising” competition (a winner is yet to be decided,) while earlier in the year Jack won a scholarship to the inaugural 'Song Summit Sydney' (S3) hosted by APRA when his track 'Good Old Town' was chosen to be showcased at the event. The boys are fresh from a New Years Eve show at the 2008 Peats Ridge Festival and 2009 is already shaping up to be the biggest year yet for this exciting young band.
