A true 80's baby growing in a household of Rythm and blues music. listening to luther vandross, Al green, patti labelle and gladys knight, helped shape his taste for music. by the age of 5 Jamel was holding a microphone and you couldnt keep him away from it. He credits his father comedian/screen play writer "Uncle Jimmy mack" and "Great aunt " for his vocal ability. he would go to his aunts house just to sit at the piano and sing. But as time went further he somewhat lost his drive for singing and was more focused on dancing. At the age of twelve it seemed that something snapped and he went right back into his love for music and he began writing. He then started using writing to express feelings and wrote poetry and short stories before it turned into lyrics to songs. At the age of "16" Jamel wrote his first complete song titles "Over before we begun" a song driven by a relationship that ended way before anything good came out of it. With the encouragement of his late great grandmother "Rose jones" who told him to pursue his music along with his step father "Anthony fontaine", made a big step toward his dream. Along with his stepfather, then "17" year old Jamel went to a professional studio where work had been done with "Fat joe", "Dipset" and other recording artists, to perform his music. nerves settled in as he was asked to sing right on the spot... He then belted out a song written by one of his inspirations "Ne-yo" called "Time". when he was finished the first thing they told him was that he couldnt breathe and he needed a vocal coach to teach him certain things. Jamel took it pretty hard but it didn't crush his spirit. He then went to work with vocal coach "Eve soto" a vocal coach/songwriter. He instantly felt comfortable because of her knowledge and love for music, they worked together diligently for almost a year before Jamel felt he should teach himself, train his ear more and sing as much as possible. nearly 50 songs written and a year later then "19" year old Jamel went back to bring his music to the same studio from 2years before and he could tell by the smiles that they were impressed. he played his song called "Grind slowly" for them and they were convinced it was a hit. Now "20" year old "Jae-shyne" with over 150,000 plays on myspace with beats done and produced by Rapper/songwriter/producer "ardigy" and collabos with talented artists such as R.c. money, blaze, and jaysan nikan. Myspace hits such as "Grind slowly", "Its over now" "Fade" "let go". Jae-shyne has been receiving amazing feed back from local performances from the "apollo on tour", "an annual festival", as well as "church comedy show". Jae-shyne is a starving artist and is ready to join his inspirations and hopefully inspire others to pursue their careers.
