As a teenager, he taught himself how to play the guitar and began writing songs, and from there.. all is history. For over thirty years he has been playing music, most known for being the lead singer and lead guitarist in the popular Midwest band, "The Mocny Brothers". James, along with his brother Richard Mocny (Drums), and Dave Cooper (Bass Guitar), dominated the Northeast Ohio music scene with their incredible harmonies and memorable melodies. When the band went their separate ways, Mocny took up school teaching and began giving guitar lessons. Not long after, his passion for music was revived with two good friends and a new group called the "James Mocny Theory". He released his first album in 2004 entitled "Loosely Based On Reality".
