June 13th, Jazman "Jaz Flow" Tolivar was introduced into the world. Born premature 2 months before expected delivery, he couldnt wait to enter the world from womb! After the death of his mother, Jean Provost, he was left to be looked after by his grandmother, aunts and cousins. "My mama died when i was bout 3 yrs old due to a heart attack and i actually witnessed it happen right in front of my eyes and i remember it like it happened yesterday!" Left with just a father to look up to but held a heavy schedule as an acting supervisor for a oil company, somthing else grabbed his undivided attention. "I remember ma daddy tellin me go to bed for school in the morning , this was round 90'-91'....and i wud wake up in da middle of the night to watch Yo MTV Raps. For some strange reason i was in love with hip hop." After moving to Houston during the fall of 1993 he was already in preparation of his future, recording straight off the antenna to cassette memorizing every favorable song that played, writing them then memorizing every song word for word. 'I used to have da record button and da pause on stand by waitin fa a song to come on. I wud put some toilet paper in them two lil holes on da top and fill up both sides of a curtis mayfield tape i had done snatched out ma daddy car." That was the moments that meant. Returning home 3 years later, his unwillingness passion for music began to come into to play when he discovered the ability to create his own lyrics. Heavily influenced by rap pioneers from the east to the west coast, he still had that lousiana mentality. "My niggas used to say what the fuck is u listenin to, but in true honesty i was listenin to that type of shit because i felt like if they could do it i could d o it but put my twist on it and get on a whole notha level with it." Notebooks on top of notebooks turned in to a library of rhymes that piled up under a sofa he sat on playing dreamcast writing at the same time. Partnering with high school friends, they formed a group called MBA which stirred up a local buzz and gained the attention of Dj Dolby D after hearing a mixtape. Their exposer on the club scene and strategic marketing, they were in demand! But as life seem to be nothing lasts forvever and the group departed. Determined to consistency, the flow didnt stop which lead him to the decision of masterming it on his own. After releasing his first solo mixtape entitled "Wheres Your Backup" it was stubbled upon by former running back Domanick Davis. "Well his lil brotha called me up and was like is this flow? And im like yea, then he said his brother wanted to meet me and speak to me, After a conversation and a few jokes the deal was sealed. After founding Dimaano Records and building a studio inside of his home proved to this artist that the confidence and faith couldnt be denied. Linking with world reknown producer Dj Toomp , he stayed two weeks in Atlanta recording from dusk to dawn. "Toomp was like....man u kno who u remind me of?" "I said no! Then he replied a young T.I.! And that was a like a big boost of blood to the heart fa me." Gaining the oppourtunity to meet Rap-A-Lot artist Scarface by way of music to the ears, he surely knew this was da break! "I done got sold so many dreams and sacraficed so much for this music not only bc i love it but its in my heart, and when i was told its bout be poppin it was stoppin". But that still didnt douse the fire. With over 200 unreleased songs, his material consists of real-life situations explained thru personal and enviornmental experience."I think its a gift and a curse beacuse alot of the songs i wrote had tedency of turning to reality". After being married and having two kids then separating aided to his musical content, not only jumping back to square one, he was back in the hood. After being arrested in 2006 for gun and drug charges, reality really set in and it was time to make some changes. Now with a closer connection with God and his mother eyeing on him, he feels that its more than jus himself involved in his life and where hes trying to go. Sentenced to 3 yrs probation and being released Sept.9 of 2009, his whole out look on life and his craft changed. Looked upon as a icon in the local and surrounding areas, he finally getting the recognition he longed for.'I jus want people to enjoy my music through smiles and cries." His audience is captivated by his message and lyrical content. With his versatile style hes capable of attacking any project presented with dedication and focus, vowing to set a stanard for a new wave of mcs. " When i reach my goal and i am able to be blessed with wealth, my resposibility is to give back to where i came from and assist those in need'. So as time winds down and days go by theres not a day that goes by he doest ask the lord for blessings of wisdom, knowledge and understanding. As granted, he intertwines it with reality and keeps it moving, faithdriven and focused! It took me a hour and a half, and thats only the half but i jus wanna thank u for the oppourtunity!
