The elevator pitch… “From simple guitar/vocal arrangements to full rock band ; strong melodies, cool chord changes, emotive lyrics and solid guitar playing and singing. SOUNDS LIKE-- Ryan Adams, Elliot Smith, Beatles, Zeppelin, Cash, Eagles, Coldplay, Damien Rice.” Growing up in a reticent southeast Indiana town, not far from Cincinnati , Jeffrey took an interest in guitar at age fourteen. He began playing out in high school talent shows and dances, eventually gigging with bar bands. Jeffrey enjoyed creating his own music, as well as collaborating, from the very beginning and came to discover an authentic knack for songwriting. Studying classical, jazz, and various other fundamental musical styles through college, while gaining valuable experience playing gigs with an acoustic rock trio, he built a solid musical foundation. Eventually, the trio evolved into a full band called Lost Johnson, with original music becoming the focus. They released two full-length albums and obtained a decent fan base in the Cincinnati area from the mid to late 90's. In the years that followed, Jeffrey wrote prolifically, while playing original music shows along with his fair share of cover gigs. As time went on he was prompted more and more to hone his skills as a vocalist; this came much to the delight of those who knew him, as he displayed a natural vocal talent with a strong range and soulful edge. 17 Days would be the eventual band name for a group which evolved from a songwriting/recording project begun by Jeffrey, and long-time friend, Sean McGary (former guitarist of the band FreekBass). The pair had been playing acoustic duet shows--covering classic and current rock/pop/etc--and in essentially "fell into" writing together. They commenced in the summer of 2004 to record a demo of their first 3 songs, and then continued on with their writing efforts. 17 Days began playing shows towards the end of 2004 at some of the coolest venues in Cincinnati, including Mad Frog, Neons, Top Cats, and 20th Century Theatre amongst others. In June of 2005 Jeffrey relocated to Lexington , KY. Subsequently, the band went on hiatus until late summer, 2006, and picking up where they left off, began recording in drummer Mark Samson's home studio in Clifton ( Cincinnati ). They are working as often as possible to release an album sometime in 2008. The most recent and exciting development for JJ is that he has finally moved to Nashville , TN (as of July 2007). With a bucket-load of new original songs, he is ready to showcase as a solo artist and to collaborate w/ other songwriters and artists. He will be in the recording studio sometime in January 2008 to begin production on his first solo effort.
