On guitar, lead vocals & programming, Jen Urban presents well-crafted, emotionally evocative lyrics with her trademark vocal power & fierce presence. Alan D's bass, keyboards, programming & vocals provide texture & backbone. The band's catalog ranges from raunchy electroclash tracks to dance-pop anthems, all informed by a rock sensibility. Jen Urban & the Box has played venues all over New York City since 2006 & has also toured the West Coast, playing Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Cruz, and Chico following the release of 2007's Urban Daydream, their first full-length recording.
Jen Urban & The Box is officially endorsed by boutique guitar manufacturer Daisy Rock. In April 2009, the band appeared on German reality television in "Der Starpraktikant" [The Star Intern], a Tresor TV production with Rolling Stone Germany. Jen Urban & The Box recently performed @ OUTmusic's Stonewall 40th Anniversary @ Nokia Theatre & Murray Hill's 9th Annual Miss Lez Pageant @ the new Knitting Factory. 2009's retro-chic single "Let's Ride" was nominated for Best Rock Song at the OUTmusic Awards, which took place December 8, 2009 in NYC. The band is currently producing their sophomore LP.
