Rockstars and popstars spend almost all of their waking hours on tour. Jetting from Aruba to Jamaica, spending one night in Bangkok, then flying back to the USSR. They wake-up to start spreading the news in New York, only to find themselves sleepless in Seattle. In between flights and stopovers, they play to jam-packed sets of concerts; then off they go again to catch another flight. JETSET is a rock alternative band that started dreaming of a jet set lifestyle in Orange County California. After spending a year of flooding the So Cal region with gigs that showcased their memorable vocal melodies backed by a well-crafted rhythm section, they were spotted and signed-up to JMD Records which took them on a massive US tour. Their fanbase is spreading rapidly in different parts of the globe. And making waves on an exotic European city is not a remote possibility. So why not kick things off with a carrier single entitled “Barcelona” ? “Barcelona” is built on a solid and catchy melody, yet it is about a relationship on the rocks. Chief songwriter and band lead vocals, Javan further expounds that “the concept (of the song is about) changing the scene or vibe to jolt a stagnant relationship. A couple mutually agree their relationship is failing and a change to salvage it is needed.” But for JetSet, “Barcelona” is their ticket to land on the playlists of music fans all over the world. Jet Set Go is comprised of: a. Craig Broombraugh (Guitar/Vox) b. Oliver Tan (Keys, synth, and vox) c. Javan (Singer, writer and guitar) d. Topher Schultz (Drums) e. Peter Freeman (Bass) They unanimously recognize The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Tears for Fears, The Cars, a handful of 90s bands and today’s heroes as their major musical influences. “I think all of us loved strong pop vocal hooks”, explains Javan. “It all comes back to incredible vocal melodies, usually written in pop songs. All those bands carry that element. We also loved the broadness of keyboards. Adds much dimension to a song. Oliver was a great player and very technical; we needed to take advantage of it.” As main songwriter, Javan derives inspiration from books, movies, and other songs. And what’s his songwriter’s ritual? “I love picking up the guitar or jumping behind the piano in the mornings!”, he exclaims. No wonder, their songs are bursting with rich, hook-laden pop melodies that one could easily pick-up and sing-along to. To date, Jet Set (Go) has released a 7-track digital album under JMD Records, distribute worldwide in digital formats by INgrooves/Universal, and available for downloading on iTunes and other online stores. As their band name implies, JetSet is raring to showcase their music and admits that playing live before audiences is key for their music to take flight. Their early gigs and endless rehearsals paved for their tight-knit sound during live performances. Javan fondly recalls memories of a renting a storage unit and attaching scrap carpets on the inner walls and floors, and running a dangerous amount of extensions from one outlet. “We’d start rehearsal at around 70 degrees and end at probably around 120 degrees with no air ventilation,” he further relates. Eventually, conditions greatly improved as they’ve toured, performing in big cities all over America to an audience of thousands, and also playing in clubs or more intimate venues, which end up being on their list of favorites.
