JG and Van Gogh are a young hip hop duo hailing from New York, and ready to make their presence known in the music industry. With JG coming from the Bronx, and Van Gogh living on Long Island the two met each other during their time at college at SUNY New Paltz. It was at college where JG and Van Gogh both pledged the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and ended up becoming brothers. While living the college lifestyle upstate the two both developed an interest in writing rhymes in their spare time. During JG’s senior year the two decided to start working on their music together, and began their first recordings in a small studio setup at Van Gogh’s apartment. Once JG graduated from SUNY New Paltz he moved back to the Bronx, and Van Gogh remained in school pursuing a degree in engineering. The duo had stopped working together and instead started focusing on their individual goals. It was during this time that JG was approached by another college friend Michael Rodriguez to seriously put his efforts into music. Rodriguez told JG he was interested in managing him and Van Gogh. They began to record in Rodriguez’s basement with the cheapest equipment they could find at the time, and yet still were able to produce music they considered quality hip-hop. After several months of JG recording with Rodriguez, and Van Gogh working on his music up at school, the duo finally felt they were undoubtedly ready to make a serious push at pursuing their music careers. JG and Van Gogh decided they were ready to focus on putting together their debut mixtape. The first song they released is the New Paltz dedicated “Murphys, Pigs, or Cuddys”. Now JG and Van Gogh’s mixtape titled “Lifted and Gifted” is nearly ready to be released to the public, and the first single is the party anthem “Space Jam Juice”.
